Join us for a talk with Tash Aw, the multi-award winning writer and author of the critically acclaimed novel The Harmony Silk Factory. Born in Taipei, Tash Aw grew up in Kuala Lumpur and attended University in England. Tash wrote his first book, winner of the 2005 Whitbread First Novel Award and Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Novel, at evenings and weekends while working as a lawyer.
Tash will speak about his much-anticipated new novel, The Map of the Invisible World. The story is of two brothers separated after years in an orphanage. Though often thinking of his older brother, the memories become less painful for Adam as the years pass. In the summer of 1964, as Indonesia slides gradually into civil war, Adam finds himself searching for his brother. But in the volatile atmosphere of a post-colonial Indonesia, Adam quickly falls in with a dangerous crowd.
This event is organised by Asialink in partnership with Readings.
