Following the launch of Asialink’s Developing an Asia Capable Workforce National Strategy and the Australian Government’s White Paper on Australia in the Asian Century, Asialink has scoped a research project into the value of internships in building Asia capability.
Whether undertaken in Asia or here in Australia with an Asia-focused business, an internship can help build the knowledge, networks and experiences required to boost Asia capability. Asialink’s new report, Internships for Asia Capability, examines the potential benefits of internships for all stakeholders and plots out a series of recommendations for designing and implementing an internship program specifically intended to build Asia capability. The report also includes policy recommendations for increasing the numbers of Australians taking up Asia-based opportunities, and profiles the experiences of universities, businesses and interns themselves.
The launch of Internships for Asia Capability will feature a panel representing the views of business, returned interns and the tertiary education sector.
